We invite the Vancouver dance community and all who would like to join with the global dance community for peace and celebration of the forests.
Kicking off the weekend on FRIDAY September 23rd with the
Earthdance Film Premiere of the long awaited documentary ELECTRONIC AWAKENINGS presented by Evolver Vancouver with chill sounds by Okya Dj Chill, & Solitaire (Location TBA)
$10, Limited Capacity. Please arrive early. If possible leave the car at home and take transit or bicycle. The location is in East Van and will be announced.

In Electronic Awakening, director Andrew Johner lifts the veil on an underground spiritual movement that has developed within electronic music cultures worldwide. This close encounter with the mysticism of rave questions the origin of religion, and offers insight into future of man’s spirituality. It investigates this culture’s significance to the prophecies of 2012, how this bizarre and sacral relationship to electronic music has evolved the group overtime, and where it all seems to be leading them...

Just Dance will be doing an Earthdance related event in Kitsilano at the Russian Hall.
This year, Just Dance becomes an official partner in the Vancouver celebration of EarthDance. On Friday September 23, you are invited to an evening of dancing to some of the best Global Fusion and World Beat music. As FISH recently put it, Just Dance is an opportunity to “get high on MUSIC and on the shiny happy sexy people that show up for these events!”
In the midst this event, we will bring the dance to a standstill and invite everyone to gather in a sacred circle. We will then focus our intention together and share our positive and open vibration of Peace to our immediate communities and extend it to all around the globe. Then everyone present will be offered a candle, light it and share the light with all present in a brief ceremony of Peace exchange. The dance will then resume to more infectious, high-energy, positive Global Beat.

Followed by spiral dance in honor of the forests of the world. This year we will end the spiral dance with a circle dance and song by the Yawanawa tribe from Acre,Brazil,Please join us in solidarity with the indigenous peoples of Amazonia as we sing one of their songs.

The Ancient Forest Alliance (AFA) is a new British Columbian organization working to protect the endangered old-growth forests of BC and to ensure sustainable forestry jobs in the province. It was founded in January of 2010 by former Western Canada Wilderness Committee activists Ken Wu, TJ Watt, and others, and by Vancouver old-growth activist Michelle Connolly.
