VISUALISTS:

VISUALIST: Love Intelligence Group (NYC)
ERIK JACOBS & DAVID RESNICK:
Love Intelligence Group is a VJ team that uses real-time
improvising and manipulation of original, found, and
custom-created visuals. Their work has a distinct New
York flavor as well as a magically humanistic energy,
combining rare multi-ethnic images with computer animation
and tweaked footage of physical models that they design/shoot.
They have cross-cultivated their own deep backgrounds
as musicians and music producers into their visual performances,
adding a whole new layer of rhythm and music to the
live experience. In performance, prepared media is brought
into an array of hardware and software controllers where
they trigger, manipulate, and mix video, creating a
synesthetic stream that flows along with the DJ. Also
in their performance rig is a motion controlled audiovisual
synthesizer called Ghost Story that Love Intelligence
Group has developed. The motion of dancers, turntablists,
or musicians is translated into uniquely expressive
control data that can be routed to any point in the
sound/image flow.
Erik Jacobs and David Resnick met in New York ’s
Hudson Valley and immediately discovered they had a
common ground in their creative goals. Both believe
in the particular opportunity for artists of light and
sound media to conduct the current evolution of fusing
interactive technology, art, and the beautiful heat
of the dance floor.

Golden & Sam Sparro (DJ/electronics/vocals)
Box-fresh and super slick Sam Sparro is a 24 year old offering
up a delicious mix of funk, soul, electro and dance in the
shape of 'Black and Gold' a record that is already making
this LA based internationalist white-hot property for 2008.
Big news on the West Coast underground, Sam's unique style,
vocal talent, eclectic sound and savvy lyrics have already
got UK tastemakers chomping at the bit. Originally from Sydney
Australia, Sam moved with his family to Pasadena at the impressionable
age of 10 years old where he was first introduced to the world
of gospel by his Minister father. It was at church where Sam
learnt he could sing and he soon attracted a plethora of high
profile admirers such as Chaka Khan who was amazed that the
little white boy who went to their church could sing. Sam’s
eclectic journey has shaped his sound and vision, intermingling
so many musical genres, imagery and ideas. Sam is currently
in LA putting the finishing touches to his debut album, and
he will be playing at SXSW and the Miami Winter Conference
before returning back to the UK to tour with his band and

Thomas Blondet (Washington DC)
If you had to sum up Thomas Blondet in one word, that
word would be versatility. The man has got some of the
most versatile dj and producers skills you will ever
encounter. Thomas Blondet is most well known as the
DJ Tom B, a name he carved out for himself in the 1990'’s
club and dance music scene in Washington, DC. For several
years it seemed that Tom B was on every flier and line-up
in the entire DC area. But Tom's roots go deeper than
that, and his career has continued to grow and develop
on a unique path. The ease with which Tom moves from
genre to genre or among various club settings makes
sense when you look at his musical background. Over
the years he has played just about every type of beat
oriented music from deep house to speed garage, drum'n'bass,
hip-hop, reggae, latin, dub and downtempo. Having this
varied musical background and depth of experience comes
in handy both in the studio and dj booth. From hip Las
Vegas lounges to chic Montreal clubs, massive nightclubs,
underground rave events or DC's headquarters of downtempo,
the Eighteenth Street Lounge.

SIX DEGREES RECORDS PRESENTS:
|

Nickodemus
(Eighteenth St. Lounge / WONDERWHEEL Recordings)
Musically speaking, New York native, Nickodemus, is probably
as open-minded as it gets. Together with DJ sidekick, Mariano,
the two have since gone on to form one of the city's most
enduring and creative weekly parties; Turntables On The Hudson,
that has developed from strength to strength over the past
seven years. A DJ residency for the esteemed Giant Step crew
gave Nick the platform upon which to develop his style and
technique. Meanwhile, support slots ranging anywhere from
The Pharcyde and Gil Scott-Heron to KRS-One and Pucho & The
Latin Soul Brothers ensured that most nights of the week were
booked up way in advance. But it wasn't until 1998 when he
and like-minded musical partner, Mariano, set up shop for
the weekly Turntables On The Hudson parties up at Chelsea
Piers on Manhattan's west side that he came into his own.
Now in its eighth year, the club has become a mainstay on
the New York horizon. Equally, six volumes of the highly-collectable
'Turntables On The Hudson' mix CDs, a host of remixes - including
the Thievery Corporation's own 'Supreme Illusion' on the 'ESL
Remixed' album and his own record label, Wonderwheel Recordings,
have turned the future bright. Meanwhile, the debut Nickodemus
album, 'Endangered Species', was release by ESL and put the
whole story into perspective. For Nickodemus, Endangered Species
are people, places, things hanging on- struggling to survive
in a changing world. I'm pretty nostalgic & I'm always rooting
for the underdog, so all the elements of this are in this
album. It is very personal to me, from the images to the music
& the politics within the music."

remix for over a decade. A founding member of both LUMIN and
STELLAMARA, he has gone on to become a sought after producer

RAI, and is now at work with the Persian fusion group SOMMA.
As a trained anthropologist, he has studied with master musicians
from Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, Iran and Turkey which led him
to become accomplished on several traditional stringed and
percussion instruments of the Middle East. These instruments
figure prominently in his composition and production work
as well as inform his sensibility about cultural relativism
and issues of appropriation. “Saracen” will be released on
Six Degrees Records in late April and will be Jef's first
full length album for the label. Jef resides in San Francisco
where he also runs his own label Embarka Records.

DJ Josh Adams - (The Affiliates Program) (Detroit)
With his hands in many projects, Joshua Adams certainly
keeps busy. Since 2000, he has garnered attention in
various forms. On one hand, Josh, as a drummer, was
a founding member of the Detroit-based live house group
"Painted Pictures" that went on to release an album
not only on Truth Manifest stateside, but also on P-Vine
in Japan. They played mainstage at the Detroit Electronic
Music Festival in 2004 and have performed live sets
with a crew of Detroiters like Amp Fiddler, Paul Randolph,
Jeremy Ellis, John Arnold and Billy Love.
The newest project Exchange Bureau

Aryo & Arnold - live (aka Jeremy Ellis & John Arnold) - Detroit
Jeremy Ellis
Ellis' one-man show capabilities
are not limited to the studio - on-stage he
has developed a unique, energetic, and infectious
solo show that is the opposite of the one-man
laptop bore. Energetically working every piece
of machinery on stage, he seamlessly creates
a live show by engineering tracks from scratch,
mixing them into new songs, and remixing his
and other peoples tunes. He has coined the term
freestyle or freestyle electronic to describe
this improvised clash of playing, programming,
and singing.
As a student of jazz and
classical piano and percussion Ellis cut his
teeth in the Detroit music scene performing
with Jazzhead, the jazz-fusion group that also
featured Ubiquity label mate John Arnold. He
has played worldwide as a member of Time:Space,
and over the years has worked with Detroit producers
John Beltran, Carl Craig, Recloose, and Alton
Miller. Artists as varied as Bach and Chopin,
Stevie Wonder and Herbie Hancock, the Beatles
and U2, are his main influences. He’s
an extremely curious musician always delving
into new styles and picking up new tricks as
he goes. |

John Arnold
Multi-instrumentalist
/ broken beat producer John Arnold cut his
teeth in the Detroit electronic scene in a
very unique fashion when compared to most
Detroit folklore. After studying music theory
at Wayne State University, Arnold formed the
worldbeat-influenced acoustic duo Blackman
& Arnold, which quickly gained attention around
town due to their seemingly never-ending performance
schedule. He was also a founder of the live
acid jazz combo Jazzhead, which performed
at many local electronic music clubs around
town and quickly gained a loyal following.
It was through word of mouth that
Arnold caught the attention of such techno luminaries
as Derrick May and Carl Craig. Craig was so impressed
with Arnold's work that he invited him to perform
live at the inaugural Detroit Electronic Music Festival
in 2000, and May issued Arnold's solo debut, Universal
Mind on Fragile (Transmat's sister label), that same
year. A release on Transmat would happen four years
later and Arnold also found great interest from the
California imprint Ubiquity. Several singles and remixes
later, Ubiquity released Arnold's debut full-length,
Neighborhood Science, in 2004. The album featured
a veritable who's who of the Detroit electronic-jazz
scene, including notable contributions from Ayro,
Malik Alston, and Amp Fiddler. The follow-up, Style
and Pattern, was released in November of 2005 on Ubiquity,
and once again featured Detroit luminaries such as
jazz legend Wendell Harrison, Parliament/Funkadelic
percussionist Larry Fratangelo, and Mahogani Music
producer/bassist Paul Randolph.
