MUSIC

Sandra
Collins and VJ Vello Virkhaus
presenting the world premier of INTERFERENCE, The Ambient sessions.
Sandra Collins is the first female DJ to reach superstar status
in the late-'90s electronic dance music explosion. By being one
of the first American DJs to champion the traditionally Eurocentric
sound of trance, she quickly rose to stardom. Her beginnings on
the West Coast at rave parties and at clubs led to her eventual
entry into the popular Tranceport album series along with a March
2000 cover story for the important New York publication, Mixer.
By the end of '99, she had been named "Best Female Artist"
by URB Magazine's reader's poll, sharing the title with Lauryn
Hill. Now with residencies at Chicago's Crobar and Las Vegas'
Utopia, Sandra is one of the progressive dance music's most in-demand
DJs, travelling to events and clubs across the country and around
the world.

Quentin
Harris – NYC
Born and raised in Detroit, Quentin Harris came of age inspired
by many of the legends of his hometown. Motown, Prince, P-Funk
and of course, early techno instilled in Harris, a love of all
forms of music. Today, he is recognized as one of the leaders
in the field of deep house. It has been said that his work re-vitalized
what had become a saturated and tired genre. Indeed Harris resists
the very notion of working within genre parameters. His genre
shattering remix of Mariah Careys Dont Forget About Us went to
number one on the Billboard Dance Charts while Floetry Superstar
hit number ten. Unlike any of his peers, he has captivated the
attention of an increasingly attentive audience with the creation
of house classics out of such accapellas as India Aries Ready
For Love (also culled from the Motown CD) and Donnies Cloud 9.
He has continued to evolve as a producer and DJ willing to take
risks with genre. Mariah Careys Dont Forget About Us remix crystallizes
his penchant for cutting edge writing and arrangement, as a seemingly
effortless fusion of generic elements is, in fact, borne out of
a sophisticated understanding of music composition.

Garth
Trinidad – (KCRW – LA)
Garth Trinidad has been blasting out sublime, progressive

Garth has broken an army of artists including Jill Scott, Van
Hunt, and Gnarls Barkley by tirelessly lubricating airwaves and
dance-floors, producing and hosting live events from the Conga
Room to The Getty Center, and consulting for film and TV. He is
now considered by many the premier curator of urban alternative
music and culture – a genre title created with his radio
programming in mind, to recognize urban music that does not fit
easily into commercial standards. As a voting member of NARAS,
Garth sits on the Grammy Awards R&B board in support of the
new 'best urban alternative performance' category.

Desert
Dwellers - White Swan Records - CO
The desert. Sun-beaten and seemingly lifeless to the untrained
eye, this windblown and lonely terrain is about the closest most
of us will ever get to walking on the surface of the moon. A landscape
made livable only by those who dare seek it out, for the deep
spiritual resonances that only its quiet solitude can offer. The
desert is a mystical place, for buried deep within those layers
of sand we find the timelessness of the world we live in, and
the impermanence of those who dwell here...

Love
Intelligence Group ( New York ) www.loveintelligencegroup.com
ERIK JACOBS & DAVID RESNICK:
Love Intelligence Group is a VJ team that uses real-time improvising
and manipulation of original, found, and custom-created visuals.
Their work has a distinct New York flavor as well as a magically
humanistic energy, combining rare multi-ethnic images with computer
animation and tweaked footage of physical models that they design/shoot.
They have cross-cultivated their own deep backgrounds as musicians
and music producers into their visual performances, adding a whole
new layer of rhythm and music to the live experience. In performance,
prepared media is brought into an array of hardware and software
controllers where they trigger, manipulate, and mix video, creating
a synesthetic stream that flows along with the DJ. Also in their
performance rig is a motion controlled audiovisual synthesizer called
Ghost Story that Love Intelligence Group has developed. The motion
of dancers, turntablists, or musicians is translated into uniquely
expressive control data that can be routed to any point in the sound/image
flow.
Erik
Jacobs and David Resnick met in New York ’s Hudson Valley
, and immediately discovered they had a common ground in their creative
goals. Both believe in the particular opportunity for artists of
light and sound media to conduct the current evolution of fusing
interactive technology, art, and the beautiful heat of the dance
floor.

EJ
K (EJ Enterprises / Orlando ) www.EJKtv.com
JUSTIN KENT:
Remix Magazine says he’s “Blasting the market into 2099"
and the Discovery Channel calls him “The future of dance music.”
As an undergrad at MIT, Justin Kent created the world’s first
video turntable. Born in Orlando , Florida , he was brought up on
a hyperactive diet of MTV. After relocating to Boston for college,
he worked at Napster before striking out on his own. As a DJ, Kent
wanted to go beyond mixing records, and started bringing video into
his sets. One day it occurred to him, "What if you could scratch
TV?" Within a few months, he'd built the world’s first
MIDI Turntable, an optical system for DJing video that he’s
since patented. Billing himself as an “Experience Jockey,”
he speaks and performs around the globe with his signature EJ Turntable.
A lightning strike on his 25th birthday catalyzed Kent ’s
drive to lead the evolution of music into the 21st century. FutureMusic.com
named his DVD album As Seen On TV a finalist in their “Next
Big Thing” contest. A self-styled “ Thomas Edison of
Techno” and outspoken poster child of Generation E, you have
to see this rising video star to believe.
