The Coup are one of the most overtly political bands in the history of Rap. Formed in the early '90s, the Coup were influenced by the rhetoric power of "conscious" rappers like Public Enemy and KRS-One. Lead rapper/producer Boots was involved in political activism long before he was a musician and his fervent dedication to social change has been the overriding influence on every Coup album.
