Jef Stott

Jef Stott has been deftly navigating the realms of the global remix as a producer, composer and performer for over a decade. His solo debut, SoukSonik from Six Degrees Records released in early 2007 went to #5 in the UK World Music Charts.Bridging the divide between the music of the Middle East and Dj remix culture, Jef’s work is a dynamic rhythmic blend of Sufi breaks, luscious spiritual dub and Arabesque house anthems.

As a trained musical anthropologist, he has studied with master musicians from Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, Iran and Turkey which led him to become accomplished on several traditional stringed and percussion instruments of the Middle East. In the studio, he has gone on to become a sought after producer and remixer working primarily with artists from the Middle East living in diaspora including Stellamara, Lumin, MC RAI, Azam Ali, Somma, Atash and many others. His work has been released on several record labels including Universal, EMI, Six Degrees, Hearts of Space, Triloka and City of Tribes. He has performed at festivals and concerts in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Canada, Hawaii, Istanbul, Edinburgh, London, and Mexico.
